The Oak Grove Service

Oak is the tree of deep strength and spiritual sovereignty. Standing at the heart of the year, Oak marks the fullness of summer, a time of clarity, stability, and truth revealed in the light. It is the tree of endurance and moral courage, teaching us how to stand tall in who we are, rooted in integrity, neither bending to fear nor hardened by power.

Together, we will gather within the embrace of the woodlands, where light filters through leaf and branch. An opening blessing will mark our arrival, before we set out on a slow and mindful pilgrimage among the trees. As we walk, we will reflect on the places in our lives where we are called to stand fully in ourselves, to claim our wholeness, to act with integrity, and to live from the centre rather than the edges of our being.

This is a service of grounding and alignment. We will be invited to consider what it means to live with inner authority rather than control, with strength rather than dominance. Oak teaches us that true power flows from coherence, when heart, mind, and action are brought into harmony.

Our journey will lead us to a sacred circle of trees. Here, there will be space to rest and to sit, and at the centre, a firepit, a focal point for prayer, song, blessing, and ritual. In this quiet and reverent space, we will honour the Oak Tree as it stands within the Ogham Calendar: guardian of truth and stability, bearer of wisdom, and keeper of the sacred flame at the heart of the year.

Practical Information

  • Meeting Time: 11:30am
  • Service Begins: 12:00 noon
  • Meeting Point: Ness Botanic Gardens Car Park

  • Service led by the Rev. Phil Waldron (07828 883484)

From the car park, we will car-pool to the private woodlands, which are approximately three minutes away. Fewer cars entering the woodland is important, so shared travel is encouraged.
