Services

It's easy to come along and join in one of our services. We always start the service by lighting our chalice. Usually, there are hymns and prayers in which you can participate or not, as you wish.

New Start in September.

Wirral Unitarians will be stopping their regular 2nd and 4th Sunday evening services at 6:30pm and will instead meet on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month at noon. We will begin our meetings on the new days and times in September 2024. Our first meeting at the Heswall Quaker Meeting House will be on Friday, 13th September 2024, at noon.

Readings may include thoughts from faiths other than Christianity or from secular thinkers. There is no assumption that you will necessarily agree with all the content of the readings or with the preacher's address. However, we hope the range of sources used will help make the service an enriching spiritual experience for those who attend, whatever their individual beliefs or non-beliefs.

Friday Services, Seasons of the Heart

With our changes, we will only meet once a month at the Williamson Art Gallery, on the 1st Friday of the month. Our first meeting will be on Friday, 6th September 2024, at 11 AM. Most of the gathering will be held with contemplative prayer based on the practice of Lectio Divina. However, we will explore other spiritual practices; in the past, we have had prayer bead making, praying with clay, poetry, and more. There will be a full program on our Seasons of the Heart Page... this will be updated in October 2024

Lectio Divina is a method of reading, meditating, and praying that allows scripture or literature to become a means of closer communion with the divine.

Immerse yourself in the serene ambiance as sacred and inspiring music fills the air, setting the tone for profound contemplation and spiritual connection. In this restful space, listen to welcoming words, moving prayers, and carefully selected readings - ranging from religious and spiritual texts to thought-provoking secular works. We read each passage interspersed with periods of stillness, letting the words resonate within our hearts and minds, fostering deep inner reflection.

Following the reading and quiet meditation, we encourage each participant to share their thoughts, feelings, and reflections. This is your chance to voice your interpretation, learn from others, and find common ground in shared insights and experiences. It's a beautiful process that weaves individual narratives into a shared tapestry of wisdom and understanding

But the conversation doesn't end there! After the service, we invite you to continue the dialogue in a more relaxed setting at the Williamson Café. Over cups of coffee or tea, engage in informal discussions, form new friendships, and strengthen bonds within our vibrant Unitarian community.

At the Wirral Unitarians, we believe in creating spaces for quiet introspection, meaningful dialogue, and community connection. Join us in this spiritual journey, and find a haven of tranquillity and fellowship amidst the bustle of everyday life. Come for the tranquillity, stay for the community – we can't wait to welcome you!
